This should not be a partisan issue.

It’s an urgent issue of funding for children in crisis.

Juliette’s House—Yamhill County’s only Child Abuse Intervention Center—will lose our largest source of public funding unless we agree to assist in immigration enforcement actions. The U.S. Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime distributes annual VOCA (Victims of Crime Act) grants to states, funding critical services for victims of abuse.

This week, we learned the federal government will now require any organization receiving these funds to give immigration officers unrestricted access to our center, our children, and their families.

Picture this: a traumatized child comes in for help—only to be confronted by armed, masked officers. This is more than a bridge too far. The trust our families and community place in us to assure a safe, healing environment is the cornerstone of Juliette’s House.

We will not compromise a child’s safety for politics.

Oregon’s Attorney General, along with other states, will challenge this in court, but that process will take time we don’t have. Without action, sexually abused and assaulted children will lose life-saving services, and the safety net protecting all kids will collapse.

Help us. Your partnership is crucial right now. Together, we can ensure Juliette’s House remains a place of safety, trust, and healing for the children who need us most.
